Procurement and Installation of 291 Automatic Weather Station Systems Across India

This tender, issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) under Bid Number GEM/2026/B/7927062, is for the procurement and installation of an Automatic Weather Station (AWS) system. The project, managed by Metnet: An E-governance Intra-IMD Portal, New Delhi, falls under the purview of the Ministry of Earth Sciences and is situated at various IMD locations, with the central office at Mausam Bhawan, New Delhi, and a key site in Leh. The bid opens on 17-08-2026 at 5:42 PM and closes on 07-09-2026 at 6:00 PM. The scope of supply encompasses a comprehensive suite of meteorological sensors, including temperature and humidity sensors with radiation shields and mounting accessories, ultrasonic wind sensors with mounting accessories, various rain gauge sensors (TBRG, SNOW, and normal) with mounting accessories and optional heaters, and snow depth and snow water equivalent sensors, all requiring appropriate mounting accessories. The system necessitates a suitable power supply for heaters and sensors, comprising SMF batteries offering a minimum 20-day backup without charging, and solar panels with accessories for charging. Data acquisition will be handled by a DAS with an IP-67 compliant enclosure, including mounting accessories and a 16GB or larger USB drive for data retrieval. Connectivity will be provided by a GPRS modem with dual SIM, 4G compatibility, 3G facility, and a minimum 8db antenna, all with mounting accessories. Additionally, the tender requires a 10-meter tiltable mast for mounting weather parameters and accessories, an FRP enclosure, and test certificates. The scope also extends to the safe transportation of materials to AWS sites as detailed in Annexure A, installation and integration of sensors at field AWS locations, and associated civil works including fencing with a gate. Crucially, the tender mandates the provision of hard and soft copies of operation and maintenance manuals on a 16GB USB drive, along with comprehensive online training for IMD officials from AWS Lab Pune, RMC New Delhi, AWS Unit, and MC LEH staff, spanning two working days.
