Household cooking gas is a necessary thing to have, but getting an LPG connection can be a daunting task, right? Especially, families with limited income face the issues with LPG connections. That is where the government took an initiative back then, with Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY). It was designed to help eligible women from poor households to get access to LPG cooking gas without paying the usual security deposit for a new connection.
If you want to get the benefit of this government scheme, you first need to start with Ujjwala Yojana Registration. In this guide, we cover everything in detail for Ujjwala Yojana eligibility, fees, application process, benefits and more. So without any further delay, let’s get into it!
What Is Ujjwala Yojana?
PMUY, or Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, is a scheme launched in May 2016 by the Indian Government. This scheme was launched under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
The aim of this scheme is to offer clean cooking fuel to women from poor households that may depend on firewood, coal, or other traditional fuels to cook. Additionally, it reduces the health risk associated with smoke from traditional cooking methods.
Since the scheme was launched 10 years ago, the second phase is called “Ujjwala Yojana 2.0.” The 2.0 version expanded access to eligible households and simplified documentation for migrant families
